Jerry Robinson on His Consultan Work for TDK

A recent interview by Newsrama, confirms that Jerry Robinson, the man who invent the Joker, is being discussed to play part in TDK as a consultant. Here's what the interview has to say:

NRAMA: What do you think of the Batman movies?

JR: I was more impressed with the last one [Batman Begins] than the others. I didn’t care for most of the others, mostly the writing and not necessarily the acting. I hope the next one [The Dark Knight] will be good. I might be acting as a consultant on that.

NRAMA: Oh really?

JR: Possibly. That’s being discussed. So if that’s true, then I hope it’ll be the best one.

This is good news. I hope that Mr. Robinson is going to be given the consultant part on TDK.

The Dark Knight on MTV

MTV has their own story about the Dark Knight. Once again Michael Caine suggests something to Nolan, this time it's about how the Joker should like:

"I spoke to [Nolan] about it and said, 'This is how I think the Joker should be,' " Caine remembered. "I said a certain thing about how it should be done, and he says, 'I've got a better way than that one.' And I went, 'Whoa,' because my way was good — my way was really good. Because, I mean, you have got to top Jack — and not a lot of people can top Jack."

The rest of the story is nothing new, but it's worth a read though.

Nolan scouting Hong Kong

This is just a prediction, my friend. A reporter from Detroit Free Press told that Nolan is calling from Hong Kong but refuses to say anything about it. It's "top-secret business" the director said. But, the implication is that Nolan is scouting Hong Kong as one of the film's shooting locations, though Michael Caine says he hasn't a clue what the story is about. "After all, I'm just the hired help," says Caine. "I am born to serve."

Nolan and Emma Praise Ledger as the Joker

Still from the press day of The Prestige, reported by News.com.au , Jonathan Nolan, Emma Thomas and Christopher Nolan were all tight-lipped when asked about TDK. Here's what Jonathan had to say:

"Warner Bros has a squad of ninjas that follow me around if I say anything about Batman"

While his brother Christopher, told that Ledger was actually a fan of Batman Begins and Nolan was surprised that Ledger would be interested for the role of Joker.

His wife, Emma Thomas, also speaks about Ledger:

"He's very much like Christian (Bale), where he commits his body to whatever role he is playing."

So now we all know that we cannot hope anything new about The Dark Knight before the big guys on WB decide to announce it. They don't want it ended up like the Ledger casting did.

Nolan Talks and The Batman New Episode

From SciFIWire, Nolan told the reporter that the preparation for the Batman sequel would be easier because they already made the Batmobile and casted the main roles. But he doesn't turn down the fact that the challenge to make the sequel is bigger than making the first film.

From Kids WB's The Batman, Steve Melching, a veteran writer for this animated movie, told that he has already written a new episode titled "Seconds". It will probably air early next year. Source: Comics2Film.

Caine Talks

Just another different interview from the press day of the Prestige. From CanMag, Christian Bale, Nolan and Michael Caine talks a bit about TDK.

Caine had a fairly risky idea, courtesy of Bob Kane’s widow, which he hopes Nolan will entertain. “She said, ‘He wrote a marvelous thing that you should do in your next movie. He wrote a sequence where Batman was trying to get the bad guys and he wanted to use the butler dressed as Batman as a ruse and go back around behind them.’ So I said to Christopher, I don't know whether he’s done it because he won’t tell you anything about the script, I mentioned this to him because I thought this was a great idea. I think if he dresses me as Batman it could be one of the funniest sequences in the history of movies. Could you imagine what I would make out of that trying to get into the Batman suit? And then running around the woods while he’s going around the other way to get the bad guys? See, you’re already laughing. In those films, they’re very serious and my job is to bring the humor of the sort of ordinary person in that situation, which is what I am.”

Yes Sir ... I'm laughing already.

Bale Taks More About Being Batman

This is just an addition from the Prestige press day interview, except that it is from Comingsoon.net :

We also asked Bale if he's worried at all about being thought of just as Batman or Bruce Wayne, to which he responded, "My feeling has always been with anything like that it all depends on the following roles I take and just ability as well you know. If it turns out that I'm just doing different variations of Bruce Wayne for the rest of my life, than who would want to keep hiring me for anything? I wasn't that worried about that, especially because of the way that we approached that of doing "Batman" and "Batman Begins." Although he's obviously larger than life, obviously we were referencing many of the graphic novels. It's somewhat in my mind less of a character than he was represented in many of the other versions. I kind of watch it and believe him as a real character in this sort of ridiculous animated personality."

The rest of the interview is just exactly the same from the last news I've posted.

Christopher Nolan, Jonathan Nolan and Christian Bale Speaks on TDK

How thrilled are you if three most important people in the production of TDK: Christopher Nolan, Jonathan Nolan and Christian Bale speaking side by side for this most awaited sequel?

The press day of the Prestige give the chance for these three people talk about The Dark Knight. Christian Bale seems doesn't know anything about what will be happening in the sequel. While Christopher Nolan doesn't reveal anything new, as so as his brother Jonathan. Chris Nolan also said that they will start shooting on February so we can expect the casting of Harvey Dent fairly soon.

The interesting part is that when they all asked about whether TDK will show more detective side of the Batman, these three people doesn't give an exact answer. Jonathan also said that David Goyer and his brother has gave him a very awesome story for him to work on. And as the title suggests, the sequel will be darker.

I love it! But, I wonder what story it is ....

The Dark Knight Will Shoot at Liverpool?

Got this news recently from icLiverpool.co.uk, that Robin Higgs, Batman Begins location manager that will also work on the sequel, was in Liverpool yesterday to look for possible locations. Here's a bit of the important parts of that news:

A spokesman for Liverpool Film Office said today: "Robin Higgs was in Liverpool scoping out the city, mainly along the waterfront. He's looking to bring the director Christopher Nolan up at the end of the month. However, they are also looking at Yorkshire, Glasgow and parts of London as well."

Hmm, I'm curious to know what scene that would suit for a waterfront.

Penguin won't be in TDK?

For you Penguin lovers, you might disappointed to hear this when Christopher Nolan asked about the casting of Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the Penguin:

"Not true. I'd be more excited to have Philip Seymour Hoffman in the film than to have the Penguin. There are certain characters that are easier to mesh with the more real take on Batman we're doing. The Penguin would be tricky."

While I don't mind Penguin won't be in TDK, I surprised that Chris Nolan doesn't know that Penguin is a lot more real than the Joker. I think he refers to Batman Returns
' Penguin as his source. He should ask David Goyer for advice.

Nolan Talks on The Dark Knight

In Focus recently post their interview with Christopher Nolan about his upcoming film, the Prestige. Then he answers some questions about the Dark Knight.

Here's a bit interesting opinion from Nolan about how he will picture the Joker on the sequel:

Infocus: Are you drawing any inspiration from Alan Moore’s “Killing Joke” — which made a point of grounding The Joker not in this “Clown Prince of Crime” stuff, but more in sadness and failure?

Nolan: We’re drawing from the entire canon. I don’t want to talk too specifically about it. The thing I will say is that if you go back to the very first appearance of the Joker in the comics …

Infocus: Which I’ve read. And he’s a bastard.

Nolan:
[emphatically] Yeah. And there’s a very clear direction … It’s pretty surprising how clearly drawn that character is in that book.

Infocus: If you’ve read those early stories, Heath Ledger makes sense as a casting choice.

Nolan: It certainly makes sense to me.

This interview is really good. I think Nolan really really gets the Batman.
