Jackman Is Down for Dent

According to an interview posted in The Herald Sun, Hugh Jackman denies all rumors that he has a connection to the upcoming The Dark Knight, especially for playing Harvey Dent, even though he has expressed an interest before. Here's what he said in the interview:

Your name has been mentioned in connection with quite a few comic-book films. You were up for Superman weren't you?

Not at all.

What about Batman?

Same thing. I think because I'd worked with Chris Nolan, I think it was just fanboy stuff.

So here you go, folks. One candidate is down. Who's next?

2007 Next Stop: Chicago

There's a bit of info posted by Armour & Co in Chicago Tribune about TDK shooting location:

For 2007, Warner Bros. already has committed to shooting a good portion of the next "Batman" flick, starring Christian Bale, in the Windy City.

For all of you who doesn't know where Windy City is, it's the nickname for Chicago. In my country Indonesia, there's also a city with the same nickname. The city is called "Nganjuk".

Another Insights on TDK Costume

Apparently Jett from Batman On Film has done his homework. After I gave him the news about the new fabric suite for TDK, he started to dig some info about it.

Here is the latest info posted on his site. It also includes a rumor about Rachel McAdams to snag role in TDK.

About the Batman costume:

"Our guy tells us to look for a suit that’s “athletic” and be more “fabricky” -- if I can use that as a description. There will still be an element of the sculpted “body armor” on the suit, so don’t expect something totally rubber-free. My take is that the suit is not going to look drasticly different from the one seen in BATMAN BEGINS. But one would expect Bruce Wayne to tweek and improve the suit, so we'll see that in TDK."

About what the Joker looks like:

"Now, as far as The Joker is concerned. We know that Heath Ledger's portrayal will be nothing like we've seen before on screen -- i.e Cesar Romero and Jack Nicholson. Consequently, don't expect TDK's Joker to be "costumed" as we've seen in the past either. While he will still clearly look like and be The Joker, expect him to be "less cartoony," if you will. Our source told BOF, "[Since The Joker is] much more dark, sinister, and threatening [in TDK], his costume is very much going to reflect that." He added, "It's not going to be a suit that is tailored for him, but more something he acquired. I mean, what tailor would actually make a suit for The Joker?"

About Rachel McAdams:

"Last week, several websites, namely my friends over at MOVIEHOLE.NET, mentioned that Rachel McAdams has been rumored for a part in TDK. McAdams was also said to be up for the role of "Pepper Potts" in IRON MAN. Well, according to McAdams fansite RACHELONLINE.NET, McAdams' publicist has shot down the IRON MAN rumor. What does this have to do with TDK? Probably nothing, but since 2007 is fast approaching, we'll find out soon enough.."

While I liked about the idea of improvement on the Bat costume, the Joker news got me scratching my head. Hey, let’s face it, man. He’s the Joker. He may have kidnapped a tailor to make up some nice and fancy outfit for the him, and killed the poor tailor after the costume is finished. Or, he could just break in to a mall and took some clothes that suits him. Anyway, just thought ...

Lindy Hemming Will Stay?

About a week ago, I sent the news about Gary Page working on The Dark Knight to Batman On Film. Now, the news has been spread all over the internet, claiming that they got it from their own sources. Though I surely can tell that they just read BOF news and wrote it by including someone's names, like John, Jack, whatever. But well, that's okay.

Jett from Batman On Film then replied me that Gary Page is only working for Lindy Hemming, not replacing her. After I dig it a little further from my friends in the US, it's true that Lindy will stay on becoming the main costume designer for The Dark Knight and Gary Page will only work on the Batman costume.

Saliva Will Do TDK Song and A Bit From Ledger

Batman On Film has reported that a band called Saliva has been interviewed by a radio station from Seattle KISW 99.9 FM and mentioned that they're going to pitch some songs for TDK.

Saliva is a alternative metal/hard rock band, the type of band usually used to make songs for super hero movies. This news hasn't been confirmed. But If it's right, I hope the song won't be included somewhere in the middle of the movie. Just put them on the closing credits.

Meanwhile, an article posted in MercuryNews about Heath Ledger has mentioned a bit on what he thinks of his role as the Joker:

He will play the Joker in "The Dark Knight", Christopher Nolan's follow-up to "Batman Begins", which begins shooting in March.

The actor says that in spite of the box-office potential of "Knight", he's intrigued more by the role, which he describes as a "pure anarchist."

"I still feel like it's a character I've never done before,'' he says, "and I'm going to be donning a mask. I'm not really thinking about the commercial consequences. Maybe I should be. But at this point, it's just an exciting next step.''

I kind of like it when he said that his role as the Joker is a "pure anarchist". But I hope his Joker will stay true to the comics and "the mask" means he's not actually wearing a mask, but he will act as nothing he ever done before.

Batman Costume is Made In Paris

I discover a news from Independent.co.uk with a small info inside that Bruce Wayne uses the finest fabrics from Paris for his Dark Knight outfit:

"As the fabric buyer for the Batman sequel, he is busy sourcing stretch fabrics for the outfit worn by the man in black, played by Christian Bale, buying only the very finest materials in Paris."

"He" refers to Gary Page, the new costume designer for The Dark Knight who currently working on the new Harry Potter film and a theather production of Peter Pan. He is a well known costume designer for Warner Bros, so I don't need to worry about any costume change for The Dark Knight.

The former costume designer for Batman in Batman Begins is Lindy Hemming, the one who just finished designing costumes for Casino Royale.
